AUSTRALIAN research published today in the Medical Journal of Australia has called for monitoring of antibiotic resistance rates in the community so that targets can be set for reducing prescriptions of antibiotics by general practitioners.
Author and GP Professor Christopher Del Mar at Bond University said treatable resistance was approaching "apocalyptic" proportions in Australia.
