Conservationists at the World
Wide Fund for Nature are fighting
to protect large stretches of
Borneo’s forest, citing the
discovery of around 67 plants, 29
invertebrates, 17 fish, five frogs,
three snakes and two lizards as a
reason to protect the land.
One of the more bizarre
discoveries includes a frog that
has no lungs, but rather breathes
through its skin, effectively
allowing it to flatten out and glide
more quickly through the water.

A coroner’s report into the
famous US Wild West shoot out
at OK Corral, missing for 125
years has been found in an old
box stacked under a pile of old
paperwork in a jail storeroom.
The shoot-out has inspired
countless Westerns, and saw two
men Wyatt Earp and Doc
Holliday become folk heroes
after confronting a gang of
outlaws in the township of
Tombstone, which turned into a
30 second shoot-out leaving
three of the gunmen dead.
The report, written on the same
day as the gun battle, tables eyewitness
accounts, and speaks in
detail about the event and injuries
as they unfolded.

A US criminal, on the run from
methamphetamine charges was
found by authorities hiding in a
pit of liquid manure.
The man, neck deep in the
brew of pig and dog faeces had
to all intents and purposes
escaped detection in the pit for
almost an hour during a game of
cat and mouse with police officers.
After swimming in the pool for
about 58 minutes the man was
excessively hostile with officers,
and had to be hit with a stun gun
to subdue him.
He was then taken to the
hospital and treated for
hyperrthermia - and deodorised.
