SOME dodgy health claims can literally take your breath away.
But perhaps at the extreme end of the scale is a US woman who describes herself as a "breatharian," and claims she lives on energy from nature.
Audra Bear (pictured below) insists she hardly eats any solids, and says she can fast for up to 97 days running, because '"food gets in the way of her enjoyment of life".
She spends up to three hours a day focusing on her "breath work," supplementing the energy she receives from oxygen with a few cups of tea, juices and smoothies.
Explaining the 'science' behind it is obvious: "It gently guides your body into para sympathetic nervous system which relieves stress, aids digestion, stops cravings, increases mental clarity and happiness," she helpfully said.
Occasionally she'll have a bite of food, but "more for celebratory reasons" when out with friends or at a party.
Rather than it being about denial, Bear says she's "freer than ever" without having to worry about food any more.
