A CHINESE man is now able to say 'Happy New Ear' after surgeons replaced an ear lost in a car accident with one grown on his arm using 3D printing technology.
The doctors created a 'skin expander' modelled on his other ear and implanted it in the man's forearm, injecting it with water each day to produce a lump on the arm (pictured below).
The next stage involved extracting rib cartilage from the man, which was shaped and implanted under the new skin on his arm and allowed the new ear to grow, before it was eventually transplanted onto his head.
While the patient didn't lose his hearing in the accident, having a new ear would help rebuild his confidence and address his post-traumatic stress, doctors said.
A VEGAN restaurant in Spain is attracting controversy after it attempted to stop its patrons from bottle-feeding their babies with milk made from animals.
El Vergel de Tarragona has posted a notice on its door saying "we don't like bottle feeds based on cow's milk - please don't use them in the restaurant".
The El Pais website quoted one of the owners as saying cows, sheep and goats are the "victims of the bottle you feed your child" because they are "raped throughout their lives to have babies that are then stolen and butchered so that humans can take the milk that was for them".
