A Perth liquor store has recently put up a sign informing customers that their 'sweaty money' will not be accepted over the coming summer months.
The owner of Cellarbrations in Nollamara put up the sign in response to a rising number of customers attempting to pay for their alcohol with money that has been stashed away in socks and underwear.
The sign reads "Due to concerning health reasons, we will no longer be accepting any money that has been concealed in underwear or socks. We are sorry for any inconvenience; cheers for your understanding."
The owner Michael Nicolof stated that over summer, people attempting to pay with 'sweaty money' was a daily occurrence, that he and his staff didn't enjoy handling.
Nicolof said that he hadn't experienced much opposition to the new rule, however he did state that there had been a number of customers who had become offended when refused.
The money is usually stored in patron's bras, socks and shoes, and while Nicholof understands why people might be offended, it was still business he'd be just as happy to do without.
Maybe we should all just start keeping money in our wallets - a whole new idea!
