THE Pharmacy Guild of Australia has called on the ABC to apologise and retract a story in which it suggested the Guild had paid a donation to the Australian Labor Party to achieve a specific policy outcome on the PBS co-payment measures proposed in the 2014 Budget.
The ABC report incorrectly inferred a donation by the Guild to the ALP had been linked to the scrapping of the proposal, said Guild exec director David Quilty.
"The ABC story mistakenly mixes up the 2014 Budget co-payment increases with an entirely separate Government measure in May 2015 and then uses this inaccuracy to draw a baseless inference about the Guild's political behaviour."
Quilty said the Guild had called on ABC News to "immediately acknowledge this error, correct the story and retract its baseless inference".
