AUSTRALIAN pharmacists, Dr Carl Schneider and Dr Betty Exintaris, were among 12 pharmacy professionals from nine countries honoured at the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Seville.
Monash University Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Senior Lecturer Drug Discovery Biology, Exintaris, was presented with the FIP Pharmaceutical Education Recognition Award (Early Career).
University of Sydney Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice, and FIP Academic Pharmacy Section Treasurer, Schneider, was one of nine candidates to receive FIP Fellowships.
Joining Schneider in being awarded FIP Fellowships were US-based quartet, Dr Ryan Forrey, Dr John B Hertig, Dr Michael D Hogue and Dr Jenelle L Sobotka, Britain's Dr Naoko Arakawa, Dr Andreia Bruno-Tome from Portugal, Leonila Ocampo from the Philippines and Canadian-Kuwaiti, Professor Pierre Moreau.
FIP's highest honour for pharmacy practitioners, the Andre Bedat Award, was presented to University Hospital of Leipzig's Director of Pharmacy, Dr Roberto Frontini, from Germany.
South African National Research Foundation Chair in Biomaterials and Polymer-Engineered Drug Delivery Technologies, and University of Witwatersrand Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Yahya Choonara, won the FIP Distinguished Pharmaceutical Science Award.
