THE World Health Organization has issued a Medical Product Alert relating to a fake batch of Defitelio (defibrotide sodium) which was detected in India and Turkiye in recent months in falsified packaging.
The medication is indicated for the treatment of severe hepatic veno-occlusive disease in haematopoietic stem-cell transplantation therapy.
