A BROWSER plug-in that blocks online alcohol imagery has found significant support, revealed a study published in the Health Promotion Journal of Australia yesterday.
The tool aims to prevent young people from being influenced to drink or overconsume alcohol.
Lead researcher Maree Patsouras of La Trobe University's Centre for Alcohol Policy Research said the study showed a clear relationship between alcohol exposure and usage.
"Most participants believed that viewing alcohol imagery online could trigger cravings and temptations," Patsouras said.
The majority felt that a browser plug-in would be an easy intervention tool for parents and individuals dealing with alcohol issues, and called for stricter government regulation and marketing restrictions.
