AMELIA Bio, a female-founded Australian science start-up, has launched the country's first science-driven vaginal probiotic suppository, V-Spot.
Featuring the 'superhero' strain of Lactobacillus crispatus, the product works to help balance and restore the vaginal microbiome, helping to prevent bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections.
Working faster than oral probiotics for the vagina, the probiotic suppository delivers a full dose of healthy bacteria strains to the site of action, reducing treatment time to 5-10 days, from 30-60 days.
"The research, and translation of research into development into vaginal health has been woeful," said Amelia Bio Founder, Catherine Slogrove (pictured).
"The stigma and shame associated with talking about vaginal infections has kept women in perpetual discomfort with their pain downplayed - I know this because it happened to me too.
"With the launch of Amelia and our first complementary medicine, we hope to contribute positively to women's health and make it okay to talk about vaginas."
Amelia V-Spot is now available for $39.95 from independent pharmacies and sexual health clinics around Australia.
