AUSTRALIANS can now look
forward to gaining a better
understanding of the
Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme,
following the launch of a new
website by the Medicines
Partnership of Australia.
Made up of the Pharmacy Guild of
Australia, Medicines Australia, the
Generic Medicines Industry
Association, the Australian
Self-Medication Industry, the
Pharmaceutical Society of Australia
and the National Pharmaceutical
Services Association, the Medicines
Partnership aims to ensure the
sustainability of the PBS.
As such, the Partnership publishes
a quarterly PBS Scorecard, which
tracks changes and trends in PBS
volumes and aggregate costs so
that the Government, industry and
stakeholders can make meaningful
comparisons and draw reliable
projections.
The new website, will feature
these score cards, and according to
the Partnership “will become the
principal location for all interested
parties to track these scorecards, as
well as other information about the
PBS”.
