Pharmacy of the year open
September 30, 2010
THE Pharmacy Guild of Australia
is now inviting entries for its 2011
Pharmacy of the Year Awards.
Three categories will make up the
2011 awards, and these include
Business Management, Innovation
in Professional Services and
Community Engagement, with each
category to be awarded to a
different community pharmacy.
The overall winner of the
Community Pharmacy of the Year
2011 title will go to one of the three
category winners.
The pharmacy that takes the
crown will be the one that
demonstrates achievements across
all three areas of business
management, innovation in
professional services and
community engagement.
“Being named the Pharmacy of
the Year in 2010 was the
culmination of a five year plan
including self-analysis, evolution,
perseverance and a desire to better
serve our customers,” said
pharmacist Craig Clarke, whose
South City Chemmart Pharmacy in
Bunbury won the Excellence in
Innovation category and then went
on to be named the overall
pharmacy of the year.
“The whole process was actually
a very successful business exercise.
“Importantly, the driving force
behind each innovation was to
ensure better health care for our
customers,” Clarke added.
The award ceremony will take
place during the Australian
Pharmacy Professional (APP)
conference held on the Gold Coast
next year between 17-20 March.
Winners of each category will
share in a cash prize pool and will
also eceive a display trophy to take
back to their pharmacies.
As an added bonus, all travel
and registration costs to attend the
award ceremony for category
winners will also be covered.
“I am extremely proud of our
industry and there is no better
showcase of our individual and
collective achievements than this
rigorously judged and highly
respected award,” said Guild
president Kos Sclavos.
“Since its inception in 1998, the
standard of entries for Pharmacy
of the Year has improved each
year, and I expect that 2011 will be
no exception,” he added.
To enter the running, pharmacies
simply need to fill in the entry form
online at www.guild.org.au/
pharmacyoftheyear, or print it out
and post it before 03 December.
