THE US Food and Drug
Administration has issued a
warning regarding intrauterine
devices sold over the internet via
‘online pharmacies’.
According to reports, the FDA
acted after it found evidence that
patients were being fitted with unauthorised
IUDs by healthcare
practitioners who bought them
online to save money.
The FDA has said that these
devices may not be as safe or
effective as their approved
counterparts, and has advised
healthcare practitioners to be extra
vigilant against fake devices, and
has urged women who may have
been fitted with an unapproved
device to seek urgent medical advice. The above article was sent to subscribers in Pharmacy Daily's issue from 28 Jul 10 To see the full newsletter, see the embedded issue below or CLICK HERE to download Pharmacy Daily from 28 Jul 10
