THE US Food and Drug
Administration has approved a new
drug for the treatment of severe
chronic drooling in children aged 3-
16 years, caused by neurologic
disorders, called Cuvposa
(glycopyrrolate).
The oral solution reduces
drooling by effectively lowering the
level of saliva produced by the
patient.
Already indicated in the
treatment of peptic ulcers and the
reduction of anesthetised patient
saliva, glycopyrrolate has in the
past, according to the FDA, been
used off-label by doctors to treat
drooling in the developmentally
