Students’ future fear

ACCELERATED price disclosure
leaves pharmacy students’
feeling uneasy about their future,
according to the National Australian
Pharmacy Students’ Association.
NAPSA National President, Xavier
Agostino, says if adjustments
to pharmacy remuneration are
not made to offset the impact,
pharmacy students are likely to be
one of the biggest losers.
“The government’s failure to
accompany this price disclosure
with appropriate adjustments
will force many pharmacies to
stop hiring interns and young
pharmacists in order to withstand
this hit,” Agostino said.
“In addition, the ability of
pharmacists to expand into a
wider array of professional and
primary health care services will
be curtailed, again reducing the
likelihood that they will employ
young pharmacists”.
