The American College of
Cardiology has released new
guidelines around cardiovascular
risk, which could double the
number of Americans taking statins.
As well as those at high risk of
a heart attack or stroke, the new
recommendations suggest patients
with a 7.5% risk of a cardiovascular
incident over the next decade
would also be prescribed statins -
versus current guidelines where the
