For Rare Disease Day, the
European Medicines Agency (EMA)
has said 12 new orphan medicines
were made available in the last 12
months.
These included three medicines
for the treatment of rare cancers
and three for multidrug resistant
tuberculosis.
The EMA said there had been
a year on year increase in the
number of marketing authorisation
recommendations for orphan
