a Western Australian man has
been convicted of ‘holding out’ as
a pharmacist, after he dispensed
medications without being
registered.
Amer Ahmed was prosecuted by
AHPRA under s116 of the National
Law, with court documents
confirming he had previously
held provisional registration as a
pharmacy student, and has since
gained general registration.
Ahmed pleaded guilty to
breaching the law when he was
employed as a pharmacy assistant
and opened the pharmacy for an
afternoon without a pharmacist
present.
He conceded that he had
dispensed medications, including
S8 drugs, and counselled patients
on their use when he was not a
registered pharmacist.
He was fined $4,000 and granted
a “spent conviction”.The above article was sent to subscribers in Pharmacy Daily's issue from 09 Sep 15 To see the full newsletter, see the embedded issue below or CLICK HERE to download Pharmacy Daily from 09 Sep 15
