THE Therapeutic Goods
Administration has issued a safety
alert about an EpiPen Adrenaline
Auto-injector produced by
Alphapharm, after reports from
several Victorian pharmacies that
batch numbers and expiry dates on
the product do not match.
TGA head Professor John Skerritt
said that as a precautionary
measure Alphaharm has been
required to inform users, their
carers and pharmacists about the
issue and urge them to check that
the expiry date on each EpiPen
device is the same as on the carton.
“In consultation with the TGA
the company has contacted all
pharmacies in the small area of
Victoria they distribute to and are
investigating the discrepancy,”
Skerritt said.
While only a limited area appears
to be affected at this stage, Skerritt
said if expiry dates do not match
the product should be returned to
the place of purchase. The above article was sent to subscribers in Pharmacy Daily's issue from 10 Mar 16 To see the full newsletter, see the embedded issue below or CLICK HERE to download Pharmacy Daily from 10 Mar 16
