the use of a placebo are mediated
by the brain’s reward system and
lead to effects on an individual’s
immunity which is, at least partly,
mediated by the sympathetic
nervous system, according to a
new study published in Nature
Medicine.
The Israeli animal study was
able to establish a direct causal
relationship between the activity of
the ventral tegmental area, which
is part of the reward system, and
the immune response to bacterial
