THE tech wizards at NPS MedicineWise had to pull out their magic wands quick smart earlier this week after an online glitch saw the former website address of the flagship Australian Prescriber publication briefly redirected to a gossip website.
A number of Pharmacy Daily readers who regularly peruse Australian Prescriber via a bookmark on their computer highlighted the issue, which meant that rather than the expected high quality pharmaceutical information they were presented with the front page of Cosmopolitan magazine - with the lead story titillating readers with ""Everything we know about the Kim Kardashian robbery".
The problem only affected people accessing Australian Prescriber via the old australianprescriber.com web address (below), and as soon as it was highlighted by Pharmacy Daily yesterday NPS swiftly resolved the issue.
The redirection glitch didn't impact anyone using the new address, or those who put 'www' at the start of the old URL to access the journal which moved to become a fully digital publication earlier this year (PD 06 Jun), with the new address widely publicised via social media channels.
Journal editor Dr John Dowden told PD Australian Prescriber "does not need a sealed section or celebrity gossip to attract readers...pharmacists know they can great information from the website atnps.org.au/australianprescriber".
