THE Pharmacy Guild has today placed a full page advertisement in The Australian, very publicly urging newly appointed health minister Greg Hunt to ensure that the Sixth Community Pharmacy Agreement is delivered in full.
It's the latest move in the Guild's campaign to ensure the "risk share" provisions in the 6CPA are fulfilled - referring to $82 million in pharmacy remuneration which has been unpaid due to lower than expected script volumes (PD 23 Nov 2016).
The advertisement (pictured) congratulates Hunt on his new role and reminds him of the Coalition's commitment to the sector - at the same time highlighting the fact that one million people visit Australian community pharmacies every day.
The Guild confirmed it was still in discussions with the government on a range of issues including the risk share provision, the additional $50 million for the Pharmacy Trial Program and $600 million for new and expanded professional programs in community pharmacy.
Prior to Hunt's appointment former health minister Sussan Ley was also involved in robust talks with the Guild over the risk share issue, with Guild president George Tambassis at the time saying he was confident the issue would be resolved before 01 Jan 2017.
