TECHNOLOGY behemoth Apple looks to be getting into the sleep therapy market, with the acquisition this week of Finland-based Beddit - a company which specialises in sleep tracking devices.
Currently Apple doesn't have an app to monitor and analyse sleep patterns, with speculation the addition of Beddit will see the functionality of the Apple Watch expand to tracking slumber.
Sleep is seen as a possible area for professional services in pharmacy, with Dutch firm Philips recently acquiring Sydney-based Australian Pharmacy Sleep Services (PD 29 Mar 2017) with the aim of accelerating home sleep testing via the pharmacy channel.
