A NEWSLETTER released by the
Royal College of Pathologists
Australasia has warned of the
dangers of pill oesophagitis, caused
when pills become stuck and
dissolve in the oesophagus.
Symptoms of pill oesophagitis
include throat inflammation and
ulceration, and it is generally
caused when people take pills at
night then lie straight down to sleep.
To prevent the condition, the
College recommends taking pills at
night with at least 100mls of water
and sitting up long enough for the
pill to travel down the throat. The above article was sent to subscribers in Pharmacy Daily's issue from 04 Oct 11 To see the full newsletter, see the embedded issue below or CLICK HERE to download Pharmacy Daily from 04 Oct 11
