VICTORIA'S Pharmacy Social Society has announced a significant expansion of the "summer games" competition to include all major Melbourne public hospital groups.
The expansion will see hospital pharmacy staff compete in a friendly rivalry across three disciplines: indoor soccer, beach volleyball and lawn bowls
Started in 2016/17 as a friendly competition between the pharmacy departments of Eastern Health, Western Health, Melbourne and Alfred, this year other institutions expected to participate include Royal Children's, Royal Women's, Austin, St Vincent's, Peter Mac, Northern Health and Monash.
Convenor Chirag Lodhia told PD participants must be a current staff member of their respective hospital so pharmacists, directors, technicians, secretaries, interns and students are all eligible.
Families and supporters are also encouraged to attend, with the indoor soccer event taking place at Albert Park from 6pm on Fri 17 Nov.
Beach volleyball is at South Melbourne on Sat 20 Jan at 11.30am, while the tournament is rounded out with lawn bowls at City Gardens from 10am on 18 Mar.
SHPA is sponsoring the event which will raise funds for the Cancer Council - more details on chirag.lodhia@easternhealth.org.au.
