FDA HIV approval

THE US Food and Drug Admininistration has approved tesamorelin (Egrifta) for the treatment of HIV patients with lipodystrophy - a condition in which excess fat develops around the liver, stomach and other abdominal organs. It’s associated with many antiretroviral HIV drugs, with Egrifta being a growth hormone releasing factor (GRF) drug which is administered via a once daily injection. Egrifta was developed in Canada by Montreal firm Theratechnologies Inc, and is marketed in the US by EMD Serono.
