PHARMACY has been highlighted as a highly regulated sector in Australia which earns "above-normal profits," along with aged care, taxis, casinos and lotteries.
A new report from thinktank The Grattan Institute released last weekend urged the Government to permit stronger competition in pharmacies, as well as cut the overall regulatory burden.
"In pharmacies, government should finally remove constraints on competition, as many reviews have urged," the report said.
