THE Pharmacy Guild of Australia has announced the establishment of a strategic partnership with supply chain solutions company Kings Group to launch its Pharmacy to Home Delivery Service through Gold Cross Products and Services.
Kings operates across Australia and New Zealand with more than 800 staff and engages over 1,300 subcontracted drivers with a focus on urgent, on-demand local courier and taxi truck services.
The two organisations said they have been plotting the design and trialling the logistics since 2016, to create the best solution for pharmacies to service their customers' demands in today's logistics landscape.
"Gold Cross, in conjunction with Kings Logistics experts have developed and refined a fit for purpose service, custom built for Australian pharmacies.
"The Pharmacy to Home Delivery Service empowers pharmacies to offer safe and reliable deliveries to their customers as an extension of their business, performed by qualified logistics professionals armed with secured track and trace and route optimisation technology."
Kings drivers are all "hand-picked" the company has said, "to ensure the pharmacy's reputation and image are maintained with their customers".
They have also undertaken specialised training in medicines handling, pharmacy layout, culture, operations and customer service.
In addition, the Kings teams have already been acting for some time as suppliers for Sigma's wholesale pharmaceutical deliveries into pharmacies nationally.
The new service will be showcased at APP2018 as well as the Sigma Healthcare National Retail Conference later this month.
