THE Therapeutic Goods Administration is seeking comments on a proposal to add the additional advisory statement Do not give to children under two years of age for non-prescription medicines containing benzocaine for topical oral use.
The warning is proposed due to concerns about the risk of developing methaemoglobinaemia in young children.
Input is sought by 16 Oct, with the consultation paper at tga.gov.au.
