Blackmores has announced the appointment of its new CEO, Alastair Symington, who has a reputation as a “brand builder”, with significant experience in the Chinese consumer goods market.
Symington will assume the position from 01 Oct, and has worked for a number of international health and beauty brands.
Originally from Melbourne, Symington is currently based in Dubai as Senior Vice President of US-owned cosmetics brand Coty in the ALMEA region.
Blackmores Chair Brent Wallace told the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) that Symington will be a valuable addition to the company.
“Alastair brings the right mix of knowledge, experience and skill that is required to drive the Blackmores Group’s growth strategy and seize on opportunities available to our business across the Asia Pacific region,” he said.
“Alastair has an extensive sales and marketing background in the fast moving consumer goods category and importantly, he has significant in-country Asia and Chinese experience including cross border e-commerce and retail.
“Product innovation and education is a key priority for Blackmores in China.
“Alastair’s deep understanding of China and proven track record in product innovation will enable us to continue growing in this important market.”
Symington’s appointment comes three months after the previous CEO, Richard Henfrey, left the company having held the role for 18 months.
