PHARMACY Guild of Australia NSW Branch President, David Heffernan, has seen off challenges from former Branch Vice President, Paul Jones, and committee member, Tim Hewitt, the Australian Electoral Commission revealed.
With Heffernan topping the poll for the branch presidency, he will serve as one of three Guild National Councillors for NSW alongside Judith Plunkett and Adele Tahan, while Robert King and Luke Van der Rijt were elected unopposed as alternate national councillors.
In the Northern Territory, Peter Hatswell saw off Travis Lindsay, to take the Branch Presidency.
Victoria's Paul Krassaris claimed the State's second national councillor position alongside Branch President, Anthony Tassone, ahead of Grace Li Na Chong, who secured her place as an alternate national councillor, with Marylin Tsitonakis.
South Australian, Greg Scarlett, fought off challenges from Australian Association of Consultant Pharmacy Chair, Marc Apolloni, and Irfan Hashmi, to represent the State on the National Council with Branch President, Nick Panayiaris.
Rabia Kajani and Matthew Gillespie were elected as SA's alternate national councillors, ahead of Hashmi and Paul Simmons.
With incumbent National President, George Tambassis, stepping down, the election (PD 29 Sep 2020) for National President is set to commence on Thu 25 Feb, whereby 'councillors elect' will nominate and vote on this national role.
Depending on the number of nominations received for National President, the result of the election will be finalised on either 18 Mar or 28 Apr.
