THE Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) has announced that it will not oppose Bayer AG's proposed acquisition of Monsanto Corporation on the basis of global divestments.
Bayer, in an attempt to take control of more than 25% of the world's supply of seeds and pesticides, had sealed the deal with genetically modified seeds company Monsanto in 2016 (PD 16 Sep 2016) in an arrangement estimated to be worth US$66b.
