The Australian Council of
Social Service (ACOSS) has called
on the government to reduce
Pharmaceutical Benefit Scheme
subsidies for out-of-patent
medicines, to save $1.3b in 2015-
16.
ACOSS made the recommendation
in its Federal Budget submission,
saying Australian consumers paid
much higher prices for prescription
medicines than in comparable
countries, particularly generic
