Aspirin volunteers
October 11, 2011
RESEARCHERS undertaking the
ASPREE (ASPirin in Reducing Events
in the Elderly) study are calling for
Australian volunteers.
The study is the largest primary
prevention clinical trial to ever take
place in Australia, and will test
whether taking daily low dose
aspirin contributes to good health
in the elderly and if all healthy
older people should take aspirin.
So far 4,000 Aussies have signed
up to take part in the study,
however more are needed to reach
the 12,500 participant target.
The study is led by Monash
University, and is a collaboration
with the Melbourne University,
ANU, the Menzies Research
Institute of Tasmania and
Adelaide University.
See www.aspree.org for details.
