Boots restructures face to face service
November 18, 2015
British pharmacy giant Boots
has announced that all of its
existing dispensing assistants will
transition to a new “pharmacy
advisor” role which will see them
work face to face with customers.
Boots UK chief pharmacist, Mark
Donovan, said the initiative would
see the technicians “work across
both the dispensary and healthcare
counter,” using their expertise
and knowledge as they get to
know patients and address their
individual needs.
The advisors will have a Level 2
“National Vocational Qualification”
in pharmacy services skills, as well
as a medicines counter assistant
qualification.
Boots will also create trainee
pharmacy advisor roles for staff
interested in gaining the required
qualifications, the company said.
The company has committed to
350 apprenticeships for 16-18 year
olds, who will become pharmacy
advisors once they complete their
training.
