Pharmacy Daily | Chemmart runs for cancer

CHEMMART executive director Duncan Phillips found himself in the unenviable position of needing to respond to the challenge of a 44 km marathon when dared by a colleague in front of the Chemmart Board. Consequently Phillips and Chemmart Clare owner and board member Tim Siv found themselves running the Great Ocean Road Marathon last Sun, raising over $5000 for Ovarian Cancer Australia (OCA) along the way. Phillips said the event was an opportunity to increase awareness of ovarian cancer and raise much needed funds to support the vital work being done by OCA. “Tim challenged me to join him in running the Great Ocean Road Marathon, promising to participate in this year’s Melbourne Marathon in return,” Phillips said. “He has been fundraising for OCA for seven years – for as long as he’s been part of the Chemmart group.” “All our Chemmart members have been tirelessly supporting our key charity partner through various pursuits for over 10 years, so it’s only fair that I get involved where I can.” Chemmart and OCA enjoy a long-standing partnership, with Chemmart raising more than $1m for the charity since 2005.
