Brands celebrated
its 10th birthday
in style last night
with a media
party at Sydney’s
Gowings Bar &
Grill.
Launched in
2006 by husband
and wife team
Tony and Sharon
Rechtman, the
brand was created
to challenge
the idea that
affordable cosmetics are not as
good as high end brands.
Ten years on and the brand is in
over 4,000 pharmacies throughout
Australia and New Zealand and has
seen 20% growth year-on-year over
the last three years.
Loyal as ever to pharmacies, ceo
Tony Rechtman told Pharmacy
Daily last night he had no interest
in putting his products into
supermarkets or other retail stores.
“I want to stay in pharmacy and
grow in pharmacy,” he said.
”Pharmacies have got that added
extra of personal service and staff
who can help advise.”
The brand prides itself on
producing make-up that is free of
nasties such as parabens, talc and
bismuth and now carries Vegan and
Cruelty free Certifications.
Rechtman said Designer Brands’
success had “well exceeded
expectations” and with close to
four products sold every minute,
the range has definitely resonated
with Australian women.
