THE serenity of the idyllic Greek island of Santorini has been shattered by the global obesity crisis, with officials warning that donkeys are being injured by being forced to carry fat tourists.
Animal charities have warned that during the busy May-Oct holiday period cruise ships bring thousands of visitors each day, with the creatures being forced to carry ever-heavier loads.
Condom maker Durex has been forced into an embarrassing withdrawal in the UK and Ireland, over concerns that its "Real Feel" and "Latex Free" condoms may not be fit for purpose.
The company issued a formal statement explaining the pullout, saying "some batches which are currently on the market...do not pass the requirements for burst pressure towards the end of the shelf life for the product".
Customers will be offered a full refund, with only a small number of batches affected by the potential for an errant ejaculation.
"There is a risk that the condom might tear or leak reducing its protection from sexually-transmitted diseases and pregnancy," the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency said.
