WITH the festive season fast approaching, researchers from the University of Queensland and Deakin University have uncovered some interesting findings about boozed up revellers.
A study of more than 2,000 partying Queenslanders found that drinkers struggled to identify how intoxicated they were, with those close to paralytic more likely to underestimate how drunk they were than those two drinks in.
"It is of particular concern when we look at those that underestimate," one of the authors said.
"We saw those that have low blood alcohol levels are more likely to overestimate and those with high blood alcohol levels are more likely to underestimate."
Regardless of how much you've had to drink at this year's Christmas party, it might be best to leave the car at home and jump on public transport or in a taxi, to avoid having to worry about overindulging.
