QUICK-THINKING pharmacist, Matt Kirby, is being hailed as a hero after performing CPR when a customer collapsed while shopping in his pharmacy in North Olmsted, Ohio.
News 5 Cleveland reported that regular customer, Janet Coleman, had bent down to check the expiration date of a loaf of bread, when she fell to the floor.
Kirby rushed to her aid after seeing she was turning blue and commenced CPR.
"[I] never even got around to the breaths," he said.
"On compression 22 she came back and ended up being okay."
A medication review found that a combination of the medicines Coleman had been prescribed had caused the life-threatening event.
After being released from hospital, Coleman did not forget Kirby's heroics, inviting him to join her family in celebrating her 50th wedding anniversary.
In addition to thanking him for his valiant efforts, Kirby has been recognised by the American Red Cross earlier this week, presenting him with a Lifesaving Award for Professional Responders certificate.
