HEALTH Minister Greg Hunt yesterday revealed that the key rationale for the government's acceptance or rejection of recommendations from the King Review (see page 1 of today's Pharmacy Daily) was ensuring the ongoing sustainability of the community pharmacy sector.
However when it came to recommendation 3-4 which relate to machine dispensing, Hunt said he had another reason for not moving forward with the proposal to trial remote vending machines for medicines - potentially leading to the replacement of pharmacists.
"We know there is a very important role for new technologies...but it just wouldn't be the same coming to APP2019 and just looking out at a bank of servers," he quipped.
WE'VE all heard the stories of people whose diets are so bad they would eat ice cream for dinner, well now those unhealthy souls have added incentive to keep chowing their lives away.
The good people at Windy Brow Farms in New Jersey have finally perfected the fusion of dinner and dessert by creating pork roll flavoured ice cream.
For added authenticity, the company has blended French toast with actual pieces of pork roll into the secret recipe.
However, the company is quick to defend the sweet Frankenstein concoction as unpalatable unless there's something extra in it.
A pork roll ice cream would be "gross," claimed Windy Brow managing partner Jake Hunt - which is why he added maple syrup to the mix. Phew!
