PEOPLE give Chris Lloyd a double take everywhere he goes because they can literally hear him ticking. When his faulty heart valve was replaced with a new mechanical one during surgery the British man was left with a loud tick-tocking noise in his chest. “It’s like I’ve swallowed a clock - I’m like the crocodile in Peter Pan,” he told The Daily Mail. People look to his wrist at first thinking it’s a loud watch and are gobsmacked when he tells them that it’s actually him ticking away. His surgeon said it could take him about half a year to adjust to the distracting noise. His wife is understandably struggling to sleep with the backdrop of his clock-like heart. He says the noise is a small price to pay to still be alive. A knock on the head might not be conventional medical treatment but it’s just what Mary Ann Franco needed. A blind woman from Florida regained her sight after slipping and falling on her head. The 70-year-old became blind after injuring her spine in a car accident in 1993. She realised she had regained her sight when she came around from surgery on her neck. “I’m the happiest woman in the whole world,” she said. The theory is the accident may have restricted blood flow to the part of the brain controlling vision & the neck surgery “unkinked” it.
