STRONG bones. The world’s number one male tennis player, Novak Djokovic, is already a picture of health, but an unusual purchase he has made recently may just ensure his bone health for the foreseeable future. The purchase involves the entire world’s supply of donkey cheese. Yes Djokovic has bought every last scrap of donkey cheese produced on the planet, at a cool $1550 a kilo (25 litres of donkey milk makes a kilo of the white crumbly cheese). Whilst it is unknown how many kilos an entire world’s supply is, what is known is that the cheese is only produced by one farm (an hour west of Belgrade) with 130 Balkan donkeys. According to reports, Djokovic is planning on using the cheese in a new chain of restaurants that he is opening. OVERCOMING injury. A 21-year old woman, Labonya Siddiqui, has overcome adversity to become the face of fashion house Next. Siddiqui bears the scars from burns she acquired when a paraffin lamp exploded on her when she was just eight years old. Following the accident, she was in a coma for five days, and then spent months in intensive care, undergoing several operations. And if that was not enough, when she came out of hospital she faced post-traumatic stress disorder and bullying. For 12 years afterwards Siddiqui covered her scars with makeup, and it was not until recently that a friend encouraged her to ditch the cover and “show her true face”. Shortly afterwards, she was awarded the modelling contract. “I hope when other people like me see my work they will find their own confidence and strength so that they will be just as comfortable being themselves as I am with my scars,” she said. Aside from modelling Siddiqui also studies chemistry at Bradford University.
