AN Indian man has finished the task of a lifetime by cutting his nails for the first time in 66 years.
Shridhar Chillai, 82, from Pune holds the Guinness World Record for the longest fingernails ever recorded on a human hand, with a combined length of just under 10 metres.
The nails were cut off in an historic ceremony at Ripley's Believe It or Not! museum in Times Square, New York - see pharmacydaily.com.au/videos.
Smoking is bad for your health - and it's even worse on an aircraft.
But that didn't seem to matter to a Chinese pilot last week, whose illicit cockpit "vaping" caused an emergency descent.
Investigators say the first officer of the Air China Boeing 737 aircraft accidentally closed of the plane's air conditioning, leading to a low oxygen alarm in the cabin.
A probe into the incident found he was trying to hide the fact he had been smoking an e-cigarette in the cockpit by turning off a fan - but accidentally switched off the cabin ventilation instead.
The low oxygen alarm saw the pilots panic passengers by releasing the aircraft's emergency breathing masks, and initiated a descent to a lower altitude.
Once it was discovered that the air conditioning was simply turned off the crew returned the flight to its 38,000 foot cruise.
