IT'S not uncommon to see politicians attend pharmacy events sporting the blue and gold tie of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia.
The Guild's signature garment was the choice of former Irish Pharmacy Union CEO, Darragh O'Loughlin, when he met with Ukrainian Ambassador to Ireland, Larysa Gerasko, earlier this year (PD 17 Mar).
However, what is somewhat less common is for politicians to boast about their choice of tie during a parliamentary session, as the Speaker the Queensland Parliament, Curtis Pitt, did last week.
Pitt commented on his choice of tie after Queensland Health Minister, Yvette D'Ath, told the House that she had given the green light for the North Queensland Pharmacy Scope of Practice Pilot to commence next year (PD 13 Oct).
"Honourable members, I am proudly wearing a Pharmacy Guild tie today," he declared last Thu.
"I cannot confirm or deny that I stole it from [Guild National President] Trent Twomey last night [at the Guild's annual parliamentary reception]."
