EVERYONE dreams of a loo with a view - but usually we prefer to sit on the throne and look out.
That's not the case for an innovation in Tokyo, where authorities have installed a new see-through toilet block.
The public bathroom (pictured) looks like it could be an exhibitionist's dream, but in fact the glass becomes opaque when the lock is closed to give some privacy.
The facility was designed by famous Japanese architect Shigeru Ban, who said "there are two things we worry about when entering a public restroom, especially those located at a park".
"The first is cleanliness, and the second is whether anyone is inside. Transparent walls can address both of those worries."
The glass-walled dunnies are part of the Tokyo Toilet project, which has enlisted the expertise of some of the country's leading designers to create "public toilets like you've never seen".
The impressive facilities are being supported by "professional toilet inspectors", with the live hygiene status of each stall posted on a website "to encourage users to help maintain cleanliness for the next person".
