There was a potentially high
energy spill in the north-eastern
USA when a semitrailer full of
maple syrup leaked all over the
highway.
Rather than rushing for the
pancakes, cleanup crews used
large mops and kitty litter to
“corral the mess,” according to
Associated Press.
A local police officer said about
1000 litres of the sweet stuff
oozed onto Route 101, creating
a potentially sticky situation for
passing traffic.
How about this for a workplace
relations dilemma?
A worker at iconic London
department store Harrods
is claiming £1 million in
compensation after he was sacked
for eating a piece of chocolate
cake which a customer had
rejected because it was too dry.
35-year-old Juan Mackenzie
claims he simply tasted the slice
of three-layer “Devil’s Dog Cake”
to confirm its texture just as it
was about to be thrown into the
rubbish, but other witnesses in
an employment tribunal say he
wolfed the whole thing down.
Mackenzie, who was born
in Chile, is also claiming
compensation for discrimination
on the basis of his race, age and
gender.
According to testimony in
the hearing female colleagues
apparently (and curiously) dubbed
him the “Lithuanian mafia” and
mocked him for being bald.
