Dutch pharmacy deal

A US-BASED private equity firm has announced a US$1 billion bid for Netherlands pharmacy chain Mediq NV which owns 226 pharmacies across the country. Mediq, which was founded in 1899, also distributes drugs and medical devices in 15 countries including Germany, Sweden, Poland and the USA.
