UK manufacturer Holland &
Barrett has lost a ruling which
found that their advertising
campaign for echinacea could not
be substantiated.
Their claim “say goodbye to
colds and flu with our Echinacea
supplements” was going beyond
the evidence of a traditional herbal
medicinal product used to relieve
the symptoms of the common cold
and influenza type infections, based
on traditional use only.
The company has agreed to
withdraw the advertising and take
steps to ensure compliance in
