THE European Medicines Agency
(EMA) Management Board has
considered a draft policy on the
publication of clinical trial data.
The EMA said it aimed to increase
access to this data and it had
received “many comments” during
the consultation phase.
Arguments against the policy
included that it would encourage
unfair commercial use of data
outside of the EU and risk research
dollars leaving the area.
The EMA said it stood by its
commitment, referring to previous
remarks that it would help increase
efficiency of development, among
other things, and said the draft
was a compromise approach which
would, if agreed, serve as a “useful
complementary tool” ahead of new
clinical trials regulation in force
